Ashton Salter is in her third season coaching with the Huntingdon women's basketball program and her second season as a full-time coach. Salter served as a student-assistant coach in 2011-12 as she completed her degree in exercise science.
In her first two seasons of coaching, Salter helped Huntingdon post a record of 35-21. Huntingdon set a program record for wins in a season in 2012-13 with a 19-10 record and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time. The Lady Hawks defeated 24th-ranked Ferrum 84-67 in the first round before falling to 16th-ranked Emory in the second round.
Salter was a four-year player for the Lady Hawks. As a sophomore in 2008-09, she was a member of just the second Huntingdon team to win 16 games in a season. A captain her junior and senior seasons, she averaged 7.1 points and six rebounds per game as a senior.
She finished her Huntingdon career as the Lady Hawks' sixth-leading scorer (558 points) and fifth-leading rebounder (418 rebounds) during the NCAA-era and currently ranks ninth in scoring and sixth in rebounding.
A Monroeville native, Salter was a three-sport athlete at Monroe Academy. She is the daughter of Dennis and Beverly Salter and has one sister, Megan.
