    NORMAN, Okla. – The Huntingdon men’s golf team was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America with the release of the 2019 Team Academic Awards.
  • Mathers wins Spirit of America Classic

    DECATUR, Ala. – Huntingdon golfer Drew Mathers recently won his second amateur tournament of the summer with a two-stroke win in the Spirit of America Classic. Mathers shot a 13-under-par 271 at Burningtree Country Club to beat two-time defending tournament champion and University of South Alabama golfer Brooks Rabren.
  • Mathers named to All-Nicklaus Team

    NORMAN, Okla. – Huntingdon junior Drew Mathers was announced as a member of the 2019 All-Nicklaus Team this week. The team is comprised of golfers from Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA. Mathers was one of three Division III golfers to earn the recognition. The Mobile, Ala., native was a finalist for the Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award this season.
  • Four Hawks recognized on Ping All-America teams

    NORMAN, Okla. – Four Huntingdon golfers were recognized with the release of the Golf Coaches Association of America’s finalized Division III Ping All-America teams. Senior Stephen Shephard and junior Drew Mathers were announced as first-team All-America selections in May. This week, senior Henry Gee was named third-team All-America and senior Mark Connelly was named an honorable mention selection.

  • 119 Hawks earn USA South Academic All-Conference honors

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A total of 119 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Friday. The student-athletes, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,441 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

  • Hawks place 2nd, Mathers places 3rd in NCAA Tournament

    NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Huntingdon men’s golf team turned in its best four-round total of the NCAA era and placed second to match its best finish in the Division III Men’s Golf Championships. Second-ranked Huntingdon shot a 9-over-par 297 in Friday’s final round at Keene Trace Golf Club to finish the tournament with a 25-over 1177. Third-ranked Illinois Wesleyan won the tournament with a 22-over 1174.
  • Huntingdon tied for 1st entering final round of NCAA Tournament

    NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Huntingdon men’s golf team made another big push in the third round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship on Thursday. The second-ranked Hawks shot 10 strokes better than any other team in the tournament on Thursday with a 2-over-par 290. Entering Friday’s final round at Keene Trace Golf Club, the Hawks are tied for first with a 16-over 880 in the first three rounds.
  • Hawks climb to fourth after Rd. 2 of NCAA Tournament

    NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Huntingdon men’s golf team shot 3-over-par 291 in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship on Wednesday. The Hawks shaved eight strokes off their first-round score and climbed four spots in the team standings. Entering Thursday’s third round at Keene Trace Golf Club, the second-ranked Hawks are fourth with a two-round score of 14-over 590.

    NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America released its PING All-Region teams and the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars on Tuesday night. Four Hawks earned All-Region honors and three were named All-America Scholars.

    NORMAN, Okla. – Three Huntingdon golfers were recently named semifinalists for the 2019 Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. Seniors Henry Gee and Stephen Shephard and junior Drew Mathers are among this year’s semifinalists. All three golfers are ranked in the Top-25 in Division III this season.

    INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA selection committee released the field for the 2019 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships on Monday. Second-ranked Huntingdon will be one of 42 teams competing at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky., on May 14-17.

  • Conference Champions: Hawks win first USA South title by 26 strokes

    LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon men’s golf team completed a dominant performance in the conference tournament with its first USA South championship on Saturday. In their sixth season in the USA South, the Hawks led in all three rounds, won the team title by 26 strokes, earned individual medalist (Drew Mathers) and second-place (Stephen Shephard) honors and placed four golfers (Mathers, Shephard, Carson Whitton and Henry Gee) in the top-seven.

  • Mathers, Whitton and Schreyer lead All-Conference team for Hawks

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  – The Huntingdon men’s golf team swept the individual honors and had a total of four golfers named All-Conference with the release of the USA South Athletic Conference golf awards on Thursday. Junior Drew Mathers was named Player of the Year, freshman Carson Whitton was named Rookie of the Year and Dave Schreyer was named Coach of the Year. This is just the third time in the history of the USA South golf awards that one team has swept all three awards. Mathers and seniors Stephen Shephard and Henry Gee each earned first-team All-Conference honors. Whitton was named second-team All-Conference. Senior Mark Connelly was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

    LAGRANGE, Ga. – Three Hawks shot in the 60s and the Huntingdon men’s golf team matched its best round of the season in the opening round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday. The second-ranked Hawks shot an 11-under-par 277 and lead the nine-team field entering Friday’s second round at Highland Country Club.
  • Shephard and Hawks win Emory Invitational

    STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Senior Stephen Shephard earned his fourth career win and the Huntingdon men’s golf team won its fourth tournament of the season on Sunday in the Emory Invitational. The fourth-ranked golfer in Division III, Shephard shot an even-par 71 in the final round and finished the tournament with a 2-under 211. As a team, the second-ranked Hawks shot 3-over 287 in the final round and 13-over 865 to win the tournament by 13 strokes.
  • Shephard and Hawks in the lead entering final round of Emory Invitational

    STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Senior Stephen Shephard and the Huntingdon men’s golf team started strong in the first two rounds of the Emory Invitational on Saturday. The second-ranked Hawks shot 5-over-par 289 in each of the first two rounds and lead the 14-team tournament with a 10-over 578 entering Sunday’s final round. Top-ranked Emory is three strokes behind Huntingdon in second with a 13-over 581 and sixth-ranked Guilford is third with a 20-over 588. Shephard, the fourth-ranked golfer in Division III, leads the field after two rounds with a 2-under 140. Shephard shot an even-par 71 in the first round and a 2-under 69 in the second round.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The second-ranked Huntingdon men’s golf team set the tone in the first round of the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on Monday. Entering Tuesday’s final round at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club, four Huntingdon varsity golfers and one B-Team golfer are in the top-10 and within four strokes of first. As a team, Huntingdon shot 1-over-par 289 in the opening round and leads the 15-team field by seven strokes. Seventh-ranked Guilford and top-ranked Emory are tied for second at 8-over 296, Berry is fourth at 301 and eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon is fifth at 304. The Huntingdon B-Team is sixth at 308, ahead of four nationally ranked teams.

    JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Senior Stephen Shephard matched the best round of his collegiate career and picked up his third collegiate win, junior Drew Mathers placed second and the second-ranked Huntingdon men’s golf team finished second on Sunday in the Jekyll Island Invitational.
