MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Freshman Jakob Works scored five goals in the final 12 minutes to lead the Huntingdon men's lacrosse team to a 16-13 win over Piedmont on Saturday.
The Hawks (7-7) built a six-goal lead early in the second half before Piedmont (6-9) rallied with eight straight goals to take a 12-10 lead with 13:11 to play. Works' first goal was answered by the Lions. Works' next two goals tied the game before Brandon Sewell scored to give Huntingdon a 14-13 lead. Works sealed the win with two goals in the final two minutes.
Works finished the game with seven goals and four ground balls. Sewell finished with three goals, one assist, 17 ground balls and won 27-of-31 faceoffs. Davis Dalton scored three goals and Gavin Carey, Anthony Rovetto and Karson Hastings each scored one goal.
The second-year Hawks will close out the season and try to secure their first winning on April 20 when Shorter comes to Samford Stadium. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
