FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon baseball team is ranked seventh in the USA South Athletic Conference preseason poll. The preseason poll was released on Wednesday.
Huntingdon totaled 67 points and is ranked seventh. Preseason favorite LaGrange received seven first-place votes and 107 points. Piedmont is second with five first-place votes and 98 points.
LaGrange defeated Piedmont in the 2017 conference championship game.
Maryville and Ferrum are tied for third with 90 points, North Carolina Wesleyan is fifth with 88 points and Greensboro is sixth with 83 points. Behind Huntingdon, Methodist is eighth with 58 points, William Peace is ninth with 40 points, Covenant is 10th with 38 points, Averett is 11th with 18 points and Berea is 12th with 15 points.
Huntingdon opens the season at home on Feb. 2 against Millsaps at 5 p.m.
