GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team battled Greensboro College but came up short 1-0 on Saturday.
Greensboro (6-6-0, 4-1-0 USA South), which is currently third in the USA South Athletic Conference standings, scored in the 18th minute.
Huntingdon keeper Alex Brown denied all but one of the Pride's five shots on goal to finish with four saves. Brown ranks second in the USA South with an 84.8 save percentage.
"It's very tough for the boys not to get anything out of that game. The work rate and effort from the players deserved so much more," Huntingdon head coach Matt Williams said. "Having Greensboro clear two balls off the line and another chance off the post showed how close we were. The conference is very tough and we need a little luck to bounce our way and we can be right in the thick of things. We're ready for the chance to bounce back tomorrow with another very important game."
Huntingdon returns to conference action on Sunday at Averett University.
