Hawks Split Matches With ETBU And Truett McConnell At Home

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- To bring their annual beach bash to a close, Huntingdon beach volleyball faced off with the Eastern Texas Baptist University Tigers and the Truett McConnell Bears.

The Hawks opened the day with a 4-1 win over the Tigers, but were swept by the Bears in their final match. See below for the comprehensive results.

Match One v. ETBU

• Veronica Tikhomirova and Ariel Helmick defeated Brooke Nalley and Sierra Wendt in three sets, winning the first 21-16, dropping the second 21-10, but claimed victory with a 15-7 set three victory
• Izzy Valldeperas and Ashlen Janowski defeated Kyleigh Pate and Taylor Parker 21-11 and 21-6
• Jessi Hilyer and Eva Ellenburg defeated Sofia Castillo and Bella Fields 21-6 and 21-10
• Lily VanDyke and Jenna Dupee were defeated by Timberlin St. Marie and Emily Thomas in three sets, winning the first 21-18, losing the second 21-19, but dropped the third 15-6
• Morgan Suggs and Carryne Chancey defeated Kaiya Haase and Camille Freeman in three sets, winning the first 21-17, losing the second 21-19, but rebounding to win the third 15-11

Match Two v. Truett McConnell

• Veronica Tikhomirova and Ariel Helmick were defeated in three sets by Jordan Roberts and Emma Boland, claiming the first 21-18 but losing the next two 21-18 and 15-13
• Ashlen Janowski and Izzy Valldeperas were defeated by Deomi Valmus and Nadia Lulinski in three sets, winning the first 21-19 but losing the next two 21-18 and 15-8
• Jessi Hilyer and Eva Ellenburg were defeated by Elizabeth Franklin and Kaleigh McFarland 22-20 and 25-23
• Lily VanDyke and Jenna Dupee were defeated by Camille Godfrey and Rachel Kessler 21-12 and 21-8
• Morgan Suggs and Carryne Chancey were defeated by Macy Boggs and Sameily Marquez in three sets, losing the first 21-16, winning the second 21-19, and losing the third 15-12

The Hawks return to action on February 26th at the University of Mobile. Matches are scheduled for 3:00 and 5:00 PM CT.
