Hawks Late Rally Comes Up Short In Regular Season Finale

LAGRANGE, Ga.- With their third game at LaGrange bringing the regular season to a close, Huntingdon Baseball fell to 18-18(7-11 CCS) for the regular season with a 10-7 loss to the Panthers.

The Hawks entered the seventh inning facing a 10-0 deficit, but rallied with seven runs in the inning to bring themselves within striking distance. Ultimately however, Huntingdon couldn't complete the comeback.

How it happened

Following a scoreless first inning for both teams, LaGrange broke the ice in the second, scoring three runs to grab the early advantage. The Panthers managed to extend their lead in the fourth inning, continuing to hold Huntingdon scoreless as they tacked on five more runs, bring the score to 8-0. With two more LaGrange runs crossing home plate in the fifth, the Hawks faced a 10-0 deficit coming down the stretch.

Ethan Duhon got things going for Huntingdon in the top of the 7th, singling through the right side to score Mikael Bryant, putting the Hawks on the board. Blayne McDaniel followed up with a RBI of his own, sending Brent Cadenhead home, cutting the deficit to 10-2. Sam Kelley kept things going with a double to center field, securing runs for McDaniel and Brodie Holcomb as Huntingdon continued to inch closer. RBi singles from Robbie Gallagher and Cadenhead secured runs for each of the two batters, Kelley, and Dalton Kuhn as Huntingdon brought themselves within three, 10-7, entering the seventh inning stretch.

After catching fire in the seventh, the Hawks couldn't keep their momentum rolling through the final two innings, recording just two base hits as LaGrange pulled out the 10-7 victory.

With this loss bringing the regular season to an end, the Hawks await news surrounding the 2025 CCS Conference Tournament. Games are set to begin on April 30th, hosted by the overall highest seed.
