Hawks Complete Sweep Of Conference-Opening Series Against LaGrange
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Lighting it up in the series finale against LaGrange, Huntingdon Baseball scored 17 runs en route to a conference-opening series sweep, knocking off the Panthers 17-13.
After falling behind 6–0 through the first two innings, the Hawks responded with a decisive offensive surge in the third. A two-run homer from Brodie Holcomb jumpstarted the rally before RBI hits from Mikael Bryant and Brent Cadenhead tied the game. Ty Pruitt followed with a two-run single later in the inning to cap an eight-run frame and give Huntingdon an 8–6 lead.
The Hawks continued to build separation over the middle innings. Jay Davidson delivered a two-run single in the fourth, while Holcomb, Jabez Sampson, and Drew Jolley each drove in runs during a three-run fifth to stretch the advantage. Huntingdon added four more insurance runs across the sixth and eighth innings, highlighted by Davidson's fourth RBI of the day.
Offensively, the Hawks matched LaGrange with 16 hits while drawing 13 walks. Davidson led the way with four hits and four RBIs, while Holcomb drove in three runs and scored three times. Pruitt added two hits and two RBIs, and Jolley reached base five times with two RBIs and two runs scored.
On the mound, Reece Thomas earned the win in relief, working 2.1 innings and allowing just one run. Charlie Morgan provided stability in the middle innings with four frames and three strikeouts before Cadenhead closed out the final inning.
The Hawks will look to carry their momentum into their CCS series with Covenant at home, starting on March 20th. First pitch is set for 6:00 PM CT.
