MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In spite of falling 13-2 in the first of today's double-header with the Scots, Huntingdon Baseball secured their second CCS series victory of the season, claiming the second of today's games 13-3 in eight innings to improve to 17-5 on the year and 5-1 in conference play.
Game One
In the opener, Huntingdon struggled to contain the Covenant offense early and fell behind, managing just two runs on a two-run homer by Brodie Holcomb in the sixth. Securing only 3 base hits for the game, the Hawks couldn't mount a comeback, falling 13-2 for their first CCS loss of the season.
Game Two
The Hawks bounced back in the second game with a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching. Huntingdon scored early and often, highlighted by RBIs from Sam Kelley, Blayne McDaniel, Ty Pruitt, Jabez Sampson, Drew Jolley, Ben Mosely, and Jay Davidson. Sam Kelley led the charge with three hits and three RBIs, while Drew Jolley added three RBIs of his own. Multiple Hawks stole bases, including Pruitt, Holcomb, Kelley, Sampson, and Mikael Bryant, keeping the defense off balance en route to the victory.
On the mound, MD Johnson earned the win with 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out six, while Will Argo closed out the final 2.1 innings of relief. Brodie Holcomb's homer in game one and the team's consistent hitting in game two underscored the Hawks' offensive depth.
The Hawks hit the road for their first away conference series at Asbury on Friday, March 27th. First pitch is set for 4:00 PM CT.
