Hawks Fall In Series Finale At Asbury
WILMORE, Ky.- In a final battle to clinch the series, Huntingdon Baseball fell 18-8 in seven innings at the hands of the Asbury University Eagles for their first CCS series loss of the season.
After falling behind 7-1 through three innings, the Hawks erupted for seven runs in the fifth to tie the game at 8-8. RBI contributions came from multiple spots in the lineup, including Blayne McDaniel, Brodie Holcomb, Mikael Bryant, Jay Davidson, and Brent Cadenhead, while Drew Jolley added a sacrifice fly in the rally.
Asbury responded immediately, plating 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break the game open. The inning featured a mix of timely hits, walks, hit batters, and defensive miscues that allowed the hosts to pull away for good.
At the plate, Huntingdon tallied 10 hits, with McDaniel and Davidson each collecting two, and Bryant adding a pair along with an RBI. Holcomb drove in two runs, while six different Hawks recorded at least one RBI in the balanced offensive effort.
The Hawks will look to bounce back on Friday, April 3rd as they kick off another conference series at Maryville. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM CT.
