Baseball Falls In Series At Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn.- Closing out their series against the Scots on the road, Huntingdon Baseball fell in both games in today's double-header, dropping the first 9-8 before suffering a 12-2 loss in the second.

Game One

The opener featured plenty of offense, as Huntingdon racked up 17 hits but couldn't hold off a late push from the visitors.

After giving up an early run, the Hawks answered with a four-run second inning. RBI singles from Drew Jolley, Ty Pruitt, and Blayne McDaniel—combined with a pair of unearned runs—helped Huntingdon build a 4–1 lead.

Maryville responded quickly, plating four runs in the second to take a 5–4 advantage. Huntingdon battled back, tying the game in the fourth before reclaiming control in the fifth. Mikael Bryant delivered an RBI single, Pruitt added a run-scoring fielder's choice, and McDaniel drove in another with a double to push the Hawks ahead 8–6.

The Scots chipped away with a run in the fifth before breaking through in the eighth to take a 9–8 lead, which they would hold for the win.

Jolley and Bryant each recorded four hits to lead Huntingdon at the plate, while Pruitt and McDaniel drove in two runs apiece. Despite the offensive output, the Hawks left 17 runners on base in the one-run loss.

Game Two

The second game saw Maryville take control early and pull away for the sweep.

Huntingdon struggled to contain the opponents' offense, who scored in each of the first five innings. A big fourth inning extended the lead, and a five-run fifth inning put the game out of reach at 12–0.

Huntingdon tallied 10 hits of its own but struggled to string together scoring opportunities. The Hawks broke through in the seventh inning, as Dalton Ash delivered an RBI double and Ben Mosely followed with a sacrifice fly to account for the team's two runs. Dalton Kuhn and Blayne McDaniel each recorded two hits to pace the offense in game two.

The Hawks will look to bounce back on April 7th for a non-conference stop at Oglethorpe. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM CT.
