Hawks Split Neutral Site Matchup With Greenville

MILLINGTON, TENN.- Squaring off with the Panthers of Greenville University in a neutral site non-conference matchup, Huntingdon Baseball dropped the first game of the double-header 10-0 before answering with a 13-9 win in the second game, bringing their record to 19-11 entering the final stretch of conference play.

Game one

Huntingdon was limited offensively in the opener, managing just one hit in a 10-0 loss to Greenville. Blayne McDaniel accounted for the Hawks' lone hit, while the lineup drew only two walks and struck out once.

Greenville built an early lead with runs in each of the first two innings before breaking the game open with a four-run fifth and adding two more in the sixth. Huntingdon pitching allowed 12 hits, with MD Johnson taking the loss after four innings of work.

Game two

The Hawks responded in a big way in game two, erupting for five runs in the first inning and never looking back in a 13-9 win to salvage the split.

Brodie Holcomb led the offensive charge with three hits and two RBI, while Drew Jolley delivered a key three-run triple as part of a four-RBI day. Jabez Sampson added two hits and two RBI, and Mikael Bryant drove in two as Huntingdon finished with 13 hits and 13 runs.

After building a 12-3 lead through five innings, Huntingdon withstood a Greenville rally that cut the deficit to three. The Hawks' bullpen settled in late, with Sam Tompkins and Will Argo closing the door over the final frames.

Jable Ramey earned the win on the mound as Huntingdon secured the doubleheader split.

The Hawks will look to keep rolling on Tuesday, April 14th as they host MUW. Gametime is set for 4:00 PM CT.
