McReynolds, Montgomery Receive USA South Weekly Football Awards
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The USA South Athletic Conference has announced their football awards from the 5th week of the regular season.
Huntingdon saw two athletes recognized, with freshman defensive back Malikih Montgomery being named the efensive Rookie of the Week and Timothy McReynolds being named the special teams Player of the Week.
From Oneonta, Alabama, Montgomery recorded 4 tackles, providing significant contribution to the Hawks defense and special teams in a 45-31 win over Belhaven.
As for McReynolds, the Geneva, Alabama junior kick returner averaged 70.3 yards a kickoff return, including taking one 85 yards for a second quarter touchdown, in a 45-31 win over USA South rival Belhaven last week. Later in the second quarter, with just 29 seconds remaining, McReynolds returned a kickoff 86 yards which setup the Hawks to score a touchdown before halftime. This is the second time he has received this award this season.
