Hawks Stall Out Vs Point

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Returning to Charles Lee Field for the first time in nearly a month, Huntingdon Flag Football played host to NAIA Point University in the program's first ever matchup with the Skyhawks.

The Hawks struggled to generate any momentum offensively throughout the night, falling 26-7 in a grudge-match. The Hawks now sit at 2-9 overall on the season.

After the opening quarter saw both teams struggle to move the ball, the first points of the game belonged to the Skyhawks near the end of the second quarter, as Point capped off a 12 play, 47 yard drive with a 13-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead into the halftime break.

Point continued to pour it on as the second half got underway, extending their lead to 20-0 with 51 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Huntingdon momentarily stopped the bleeding on the following drive, moving 63-yards downfield in 12 plays, capping off the drive with a touchdown connection between Emily Stricklin and Tierra Russell on a pitch-play to cut the deficit to 20-7 entering the final period.

The Hawks tried to mount a late comeback in the fourth quarter, but a final Point touchdown put the Hawks away 26-7.

Huntingdon Flag Football returns to Samford Stadium on Saturday, April 12th for a battle with Milligan. Gametime is set for 4:00 PM CT.
