Flag Football Claims Season-Opening Victory At Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga.- Looking to build off of their historic first season as a program in 2025, Huntingdon Women's Flag Football kicked off year two in positive fashion, taking down the Barons of Brewton-Parker 13-6 on the road.

Defense dictated the pace of the game for both sides in the low-scoring affair. That said, it was about as perfect of a start for the Hawks as they could ask for, as a Tamiyah Carter sack on the opening possession made way for Kennedi Young and Shalimar St. Juste to connect on a 9-yard touchdown pass, giving Huntingdon a 7-0 lead by the 6 minute mark in the first quarter. The Barons responded with an 11-yard touchdown nearing the final two minutes of the first half, but the Hawks still led 7-6 after Brewton-Parker's conversion attempt was unsuccessful. Just before the half, Kennedi Young took off on a 10-yard scramble, finding the endzone to give Huntingdon a 13-6 lead that ultimately turned into a victory.  The Barons had a chance late, but the Hawks defense remained solid through the second half, as Mikayla Allen recorded her first career interception and Carter picked up her second sack to ice away the win.
