MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon Flag Football turned in a dominant all-around performance Saturday, rolling to a 48-0 shutout victory over Cumberland University to complete their 2-1 home-opening weekend.

The Hawks wasted no time setting the tone, scoring twice in the opening quarter before adding two more touchdowns and a team safety in the second to take a 28-0 lead into the break. Huntingdon added three more scores in the third to put the game out of reach.

Kennedi Young threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns, while Tamiyah Carter added 113 yards and a score through the air and rushed for another touchdown. Kelis Russell (100 yards, TD) and Kylah Rome (91 yards, TD) paced a receiving corps that helped the Hawks rack up 327 yards of total offense.

Defensively, Huntingdon held Cumberland to just 114 yards and forced an interception. Sincere Johns led the way with 10 tackles and three sacks, while Carter added seven tackles and a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown as the Hawks secured the shutout.

The Hawks will look to carry their momentum into a tri-match with Mars Hill and Milligan hosted by Milligan University. Games are set for 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM CT.
