MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Returning to action at home following their tri-match sweep at Cumberland, Huntingdon Flag Football kept rolling, defeating the Division I Hornets of Alabama State University 18-14 before running away with a 32-6 win over Hendrix.
Game One v. ASU
Kennedi Young threw for 184 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for a score to lead the Hawks. Young connected with De'Aysia Williams for the game's biggest offensive play, a 66-yard touchdown pass. Williams finished with 93 receiving yards on two catches.
The defense played a major role in the win. Ashley Sajous recorded a game-high 10 tackles, while Sincere Johns added five tackles and a sack. Huntingdon also got a momentum-shifting special teams play from Tamiyah Carter, who returned a punt for a touchdown to kick off the scoring this afternoon.
The Hawks now hold a 3-0 record against their Division I in-town rival, winning all contests between the two sides.
Game Two v. Hendrix
The Hawks followed with another strong performance against Hendrix, totaling 220 yards of offense while scoring 32 points. Young again led the way, throwing for 169 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 51 yards and a score. Williams added another touchdown reception with 49 receiving yards, while Alyssa Llanos and Sincere Johns each caught touchdown passes as well. Defensively, the Hawks continued to control the game. Sajous led the team with 11 tackles, and Johns recorded three sacks. Huntingdon also forced turnovers, highlighted by Tamiyah Carter's interception return for a touchdown and another interception by Jazlyn Jones.
Now sitting at 9-2 on the season, the Hawks will look to continue their success on March 21st as they travel to face Schreiner and Hendrix in a tri-match hosted in Conway, Arkansas. Games are set for 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM CT.
