Jeremy Autin Receives NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- As announced by the NCAA yesterday, Huntingdon Men's Basketball's own Jeremy Autin has been named a Winter sport recipient of a 2026 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
The NCAA has awarded $10,000 to 42 exceptional student-athletes as part of its Postgraduate Scholarship program. These student-athletes, representing winter sports across all three NCAA divisions, have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, athletic excellence and leadership within their communities.
Each year, the NCAA awards 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have completed their final year of athletics competition. The scholarships are distributed three times annually — in the fall, winter and spring — providing 21 scholarships each to men and women per season. The award is a one-time, nonrenewable scholarship intended to support graduate study at an accredited institution.
Established in 1964, the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program promotes and encourages graduate education by recognizing the Association's most accomplished student-athletes. The program evaluates candidates on their athletic and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service and leadership. An equitable selection process ensures that all nominees, regardless of sport, division, gender or race, are considered fairly.
Autin, an exercise science major from Mandeville, Louisiana, will be starting Physical Therapy school at LSU Health, located in New Orleans, this summer.
"Receiving the NCAA postgraduate scholarship is a great honor," shared Autin. " I am humbled to represent Huntingdon on the national level, across all divisions, and would like to give a special thanks to President Leigh, Coach Richards, Dr. Claire Bridges, and Dr. Sara Shoffner for making this scholarship opportunity possible and their words of recommendation. With my time at Huntingdon coming to a close, I have taken time to reflect on everything and everyone that has helped me along the way. Those thank you's are countless but I am truly thankful for them all. Huntingdon is a special place and will always be my second home."
"Jeremy Autin is the epitome of a student-athlete", President Anthony Leigh said. "During the basketball season, late on a Friday afternoon, I passed Jeremy as he was walking into the library to spend the evening studying. He commented that he needed to put some work in on his academics that weekend and he was going to get it out of the way so that he could be focused on basketball. I loved his intentionality and the time management that he demonstrated in that conversation. In all things, over four years, in the classroom, on the court, and in his service to the College, Jeremy Autin has been an exceptional example of the true meaning of a student-athlete."
When asked about Jeremy and his accomplishments at Huntingdon, Head Men's Basketball Coach Zac Richards shared that "He is very deserving of the NCAA post-grad scholarship. He has been excellent in everything he's done at Huntingdon, and will be at LSU as well. I can't wait to watch him grow in his journey and live a life of significance impacting the world around him."
Of the winter sport selections, Jeremy is only one of two men's basketball players selected, and is the only NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Player chosen. For more information about the NCAA and the postgraduate scholarship, visit www.ncaa.org.
