DEMOREST, Ga.- In their final USA South contest of the regular season, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse hit the road to take on Piedmont University.
The Lions, who currently sit in second place in the USA South standings, jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Hawks 17-4.
How it happened
The first ten minutes of the matchup were solely dictated by the Lions' offensive attack, as Piedmont flew out of the gates to take a 7-0 lead by the four minute mark in the first quarter. Connor Angst got the Hawks on the board in the final minute of the period, but Huntingdon still faced a 7-1 deficit as the second quarter got underway. The Lions continued to pour it on in the second, extending their lead to as much as 12-1 with eight and a half minutes to go until the halftime break. Jaxon Mcmonigle's goal at the 3:42 mark momentarily stopped the bleeding and cut the deficit to 12-2, but Piedmont tacked on another goal late to take a 13-2 lead into the halftime break. Kelcey Marston kicked off the scoring in the second half with a goal at the 7:49 mark to bring the score to 13-3, but it was matched by two from the Lions to push the margin even further. Andrew Jbara put in a goal to bring the third quarter score to 15-4, but two more Piedmont goals put Huntingdon away, 17-4.
