Hawks Fall On Senior Day To Methodist

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Returning to Samford Stadium following their record-breaking performance in a win at Warren Wilson, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse fell on Senior Day at the hands of the Methodist University Monarchs, 13-6.

Prior to the start of the game, Huntingdon recognized the program's four seniors for their dedication to the program, both off and on the field. This year's seniors are:

After Methodist opened the scoring, the Hawks responded with three straight goals in the first quarter as Nico Palmieri, Jaxon McMonigle, and Landen Nary each found the net to take a 3-1 advantage. The momentum shifted quickly in the second, however, as Methodist closed the half on a four-goal surge in the final 13 minutes—including two goals in the final minute—to take a 5-3 lead into the break.

Palmieri's second goal early in the third quarter cut the deficit to one, but Methodist answered with four consecutive goals in a span of just under five minutes to take control at 9-4. McMonigle added his second goal late in the third, but another last-second score by Methodist pushed the margin back to five heading into the fourth.

In the final period, Methodist continued to pull away with three more goals, while Josh Knost accounted for Huntingdon's lone score of the quarter.

Palmieri and McMonigle led the Hawks with two goals apiece, while Knost added a goal and an assist. Huntingdon finished with 39 shots and matched Methodist at the faceoff X (11-22), but went 0-for-6 in man-up opportunities.

The Hawks will look to bounce back on Wednesday, April 8th at home against LaGrange. Gametime is set for 6:00 PM CT.
