MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Opening the 2025 season and the Robert Spain era of Huntingdon Men's Soccer at home, the Hawks finished in a 3-3 draw with the Owls of Warren Wilson College.
Courtesy of a strong start offensively, Huntingdon took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break. Senior Tate Reynolds put the Hawks first goal of the season on the board at the 15:35 mark, putting an unassisted shot through the net to create an early advantage. The freshman duo of Josh Shannon and Josh Diaz connected twelve minutes later at the 27:32 mark, with Shannon sliding one past the keeper to bring the score to 2-0 entering the second half.
The Owls stormed back to start the second half, scoring three unanswered goals through the first 25 minutes to take a 3-2 lead coming down the stretch. Sophomore Aaron McCrory tapped in a header off an assist from Dashun McDonald with 17 minutes left to stop the run and even things at 3 nearing the final horn. With three minutes to go, Warren Wilson stepped into the box for a penalty kick for a chance to claim the dramatic victory, but freshman goalkeeper Trent Wineberg stepped to the plate, making two of his 10 key saves to lock in the draw.
The Hawks return to action on September 2nd, traveling to face the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University. Gametime is set for 6:00 PM CT.
