Men's Tennis Claims Season-Opener At Home Against Millsaps

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Opening their 2026 Spring season at home this afternoon, Huntingdon Men's Tennis put together an all-around exemplary performance in their 5-2 victory over the Majors of Millsaps College. 

From wire to wire, the Hawks dictated the pace of today's match. Millsaps snatched the early momentum by claiming the doubles point, but the Hawks answered in a big way in singles, boasting a 5-1 slate to claim the match. Jack Morris and Tyler Garcia led the way for Huntingdon this afternoon, winning the Hawks lone doubles match before each claimin their singles matches. Doubles

1. Tyler Garcia and Jack Morris defeated Jon Nguyen and Cooper Payne 6-4
2. William Massey and Lincoln Young fell to Sam Tuli and Bradley Schiaffino 6-3
3. Sage Speer and Zach Cox fell to Sebastian Gonzalez and Anderson Causey 7-5

Singles

1. Jack Morris defeated Anderson Causey, falling in the first set 6-3 before claiming the second 6-1 with a tiebreaker of 8
2. Tyler Garcia defeated Sam Tuli, claiming the first set 7-1 before dropping the second 6-1. He claimed the tiebreaker and the match with a score of 6
3. William Massey fell to Jon Nguyen 6-3 and 6-2
4. Lincoln Young defeated Cooper Payne 6-2 in each set
5. Zach Cox defeated Bradley Schiaffino 6-3 in each set
6. Sage Speer defeated Sebastian Gonzalez, claiming the first set 6-1 before dropping the second 6-4. A tiebreaker score of 4 secured the match. 

The Hawks will look to keep rolling at MUW on February 28th. Matches are set to begin at 11:00 AM CT.
