Track And Field Kicks Off The Doc Anderson Multi And Invitational

TROY, Ala.- Returning to action for the first time since Spring Break, Huntingdon Track and Field kicked off the Doc Anderson Multi and Invitational, a two-day meet hosted by Troy University. 

With the majority of events to come tomorrow, Huntingdon's men saw their best performances come courtesy of Will Shirley. Shirley placed sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.29 meters before following up with a 10th place finish in the javelin throw. Grayson Ryland also found success in the javelin throw, placing 12th with a mark of 38.79 meters.

Freshman sprinter Mackenzy Crawford also put together an exemplary performance, placing 10th in the 200m dash with a personal-record time of 22.31 seconds. Jimmy Woods finished just behind in 11th place, crossing the line with a time of 22.35 seconds. Woods, Grayson York, and Marcus Malone rounded out the Hawks top performances of the afternoon, placing 13th, 15th, and 17th in the long jump respectively.

As for the women's team, Senior Aleah Vess started the first heptathlon of her collegiate career, placing 8th in the high jump, 100m hurdles, 200m, and shot put. Michaela Moore 5000m time of 21:24.84 proved to be good enough for 8th place as well. Freshman Nariah Travis followed up on a 14th place finish in the long jump with a time of 27.31 seconds in the 200m, good enough for 20th place overall. Thrower Trinity Treadway rounded out the performances for the women's team, taking on a pair of field events. She started off with a mark of 31.81 meters in the hammer throw, good enough for 9th place overall before finishing 19th in the javelin throw.

The Hawks return to Troy University for day two of the Doc Anderson Multi and Invitational tomorrow, April 5th.
