Track And Field Takes On The Emory Spring Break Classic

ATLANTA, Ga.- Taking a trip down I-85 to Emory University, Huntingdon Track and Field was well represented at the Emory Spring Break Classic this weekend. 

The men's team was led by William Mann's record-setting time of 2:00.83 in the 800m, placing him 26th overall. With today's performance, he has broken his own school record from just seven days ago at the Falcon Classic hosted by Montevallo. Rory Gilroy continued his success on the season as well, placing 2nd in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14. 82 seconds and 9th in the 400m hurdles by finishing in 55.16 seconds. The 4x100m relay team of Marcus Malone, Gavin McAbee, Gilroy, and Javerious Askew took 8th with a time of 43.58 seconds while the 4x400m relay featuring Gilroy, McAbee, Johnny Quarles, and William Mann crossed the line in 3:28 to round out the men's performances on the track. Askew's success continued in the jump pit as well, taking 7th with a mark of 14.05 meters in the triple jump. 

The women's team featured notable contributions across sprints and distance. Freshman Adrianna Morning led the sprint group with a 13.49 in the 100 meters and a 35.67 in the 200 meters, while Sydney Thompson (SR) ran a 3:05.39 in the 800 meters and competed in the 1500 meters alongside junior Michaela Moore, who posted a 5:21. Sophomore Evie Garrett and junior Hadyn Owens also delivered solid efforts in the 1500 and 800 meters, respectively. The throwing trio of Amberly Bennett, Trinity Treadway, and Toni Taylor also found success, hitting their marks in the javelin, hammer, and shot put. 

The Hawks will look to keep rolling on April 3rd and 4th at the Troy Invite.
