Gilroy Secures Fourth CCS Track Athlete Of The Week Selection
ATLANTA, Ga.- For the fourth time this season, Rory Gilroy has recognized as the Collegiate Conference of the South Track Athlete of the Week.
The Pace, Florida native delivered a high-impact performance across four events at the Berry Field Day Invitational, contributing 29 total points between individual and relay competition. He captured first place in the 110m hurdles (14.81) and added a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles (53.80), breaking his own program record in the event. Gilroy also competed in both relays, helping the 4x100 team to a third-place finish (43.05) and the 4x400 to fourth (3:28.82), with the 4x100 group setting a new school record. His 400m hurdles time currently ranks 17th nationally, and he leads the CCS in both hurdle events this season.
With this selection, Gilroy is just the second CCS Men's Track Athlete to receive the weekly honor more than three times, the other being Belhaven's Kelsey Singleton from last season. At last year's CCS Championships, Rory was recognized as the Overall Athlete of the Meet, as he struck gold in both the 110-meter hurdles (15.23) and the 400-meter hurdles (54.72) in the latter. He also helped secure bronze medals for the Hawks in both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. He and the Hawks look forward to this year's CCS Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Belhaven University on April 21st and 22nd.
