#10 Softball Sweeps The Defending CCS Champions
MARYVILLE, Tenn.- Taking on their second road CCS double-header in as many days, #10 ranked Huntingdon Softball paid a visit to the MC Softball Complex for a battle with the former CCS Champions, the Maryville Scots.
The Hawks maintained their momentum from yesterday, taking an 8-0 victory in game one and a 10-1 victory in game two, claiming both in five innings.
Game One
Huntingdon got out to a 2-0 lead in the first frame, with Miranda Treadway's double scoring Jordan Holman for the Hawks opening run. Treadway later crossed home plate herself to extend the lead entering the second inning. Silent second and third innings made way for an explosive fourth inning for the Hawks, with Mandy Cannon's rbi single bringing home Riley Rudick and Kate Dinkel as the lead grew to 4-0. After a walk secured a run for Kylie Stephens, Maddie Grace Hubbard and Cannon each scored off a single from Treadway, bringing the lead to 7-0 before the fifth inning. To close the game early, Hubbard was walked, letting Amaya Wommack cross home plate to give the Hawks an 8-0 victory.

Allie Roberts pitched all five innings for Huntingdon as the collected her 13th win on the season, allowing just two base hits while throwing seven strikeouts. Roberts currently leads the NCAA in wins on the season to this point.
Game Two
After a quiet first inning offensively for both teams, Mandy Cannon broke the ice in the second inning with an RBI single, bringing home Kate Dinkel as the Hawks claimed an early 1-0 lead. An error at the following at bat with the bases loaded secured runs for Cannon and Kylie Stephens while Kamryn Miller made her way around all of the bases to extend Huntingdon's lead to 4-0. Runs for Riley Rudick, Cannon, and Kamryn Miller pushed the lead to 7-0 before Jordan Holman and Maddie Grace Hubbard crossed home plate on a Kylie Stephens single to bring the score to 9-0 in the fourth inning. Mandy Cannon brought the inning to a close with another RBI single, scoring Rudick as the lead grew to 10-0.
Maryville scored their first and only run of the day in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 10-1, but the Hawks still walked away with a nine-run conference victory over the reigning champions.

The Hawks look to keep rolling at home on March 28th, hosting the #19 ranked Belhaven Blazers in a double-header. Games are set for 12:00 and 2:00 PM CT.
