DIII Week Student Spotlight: Elli Lorance

MONTGOMERY, Ala.-  In honor of national DIII week, we will be spotlighting different Huntingdon student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to the program and the college, both on and off the field. Our next spotlight belongs to Elli Lorance of the #11 ranked Hawks Softball team. 

Lorance, a senior from Hartselle, Alabama, and a graduate of Falkville High School has been a member of Huntingdon's softball team for all four of her years in Montgomery. When asked "Why DIII", Lorance shared that "Huntingdon stuck out to me because of how at home it felt. The aspect of being able to participate in things outside of my sport was, and still is, something that is really exciting." Majoring in Psychology, Lorance plans to get a graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling before pursuing a career as a Children's Trauma Counselor. 

Throughout her time on campus, Elli has fully delved into the life of the college, serving as an officer in her sorority(Chi Omega), a Huntingdon Ambassador, and a head orientation leader while participating in both the outdoors club and the psychology club; in addition to providing steady contributions to the Hawks lineup on the field. 

Playing in the outfield, Lorance holds a career .212 batting average with 23 RBI's, 6 stolen bases, and 2 doubles. She was a second team all-conference selection in 2022 at the DP position as a freshman. 

Of all the memories she has playing for the Hawks, including " grinding it out with my team", as Elli stated, her favorite comes from last season, as the Hawks knocked off #10 Trine at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. Adding on, she shared that "Through the good and bad, I always knew we(the team) were always there for each other," further highlighting the special experience she has lived as a Division III Student Athlete. 

Elli and the #11 Hawks return to action on Saturday, April 11th at Covenant. Games are set for 1:30 and 3:30 PM CT.
