MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in USA South Athletic Conference play with a 63-51 win over Agnes Scott on Saturday.
The Lady Hawks (9-2, 2-0 USA South) opened the game with a 19-10 first quarter and led 34-24 at halftime.
Agnes Scott (1-6, 0-1 USA South) wouldn't go away quietly though. The Scotties outscored Huntingdon 16-7 in the third quarter and trailed 41-40 going into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Hawks held the lead despite the comeback and started to pull away with just over four minutes left to play. A 3-pointer by Hannah Parks with 1:20 remaining gave Huntingdon an eight point lead and proved to be too much for the Scotties to overcome.
Parks finished with a career-high 13 points for Huntingdon. Juliette Harp record her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Huntingdon hosts Wesleyan on Sunday for a 1 p.m. matchup.
