Gorden Makes The Cut, Advances To Day Three At The NCAA Championship
PALM DESERT, Cali.- Jumping 11 spots on the leaderboard by the conclusion of today's second round at the NCAA Championships, Huntingdon's Yvette Gorden has made the cut, and earned the right to compete in the third and fourth rounds.
Every year at the national championship, the field is cut after 36 holes to to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams to compete in the final two rounds. Gorden, seeded as the top individual qualifier at the start of the tournament, ranks fourth out of the six remaining individuals, and 15th overall on the leaderboard following her one-under par 71 performance today on the Firecliff Course at the Desert Willow Golf Resort.
Yvette got off to a strong start this morning, shooting an even par 36 on the front nine with two birdies to get things going. She followed with an impressive 35(-1) outing after making the turn to guide her climb up the leaderboards.
Gorden will tee off for round three tomorrow, May 21st, at at 11:10 AM CT.
