Women's Lacrosse Claims USA South Victory At Home Against Greensboro
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Securing their second consecutive conference victory at home, Huntingdon Women's Lacrosse downed the Pride of Greensboro College in a 14-9 shootout.
The Hawks struck first behind back-to-back goals from Molly Turnan, but Greensboro answered to tie the game 3-3 after the opening quarter. Huntingdon regained control in the second, outscoring the Pride 5-2, highlighted by another Turnan goal and a late strike from Amara Veng to take an 8-5 lead into halftime.
The third quarter proved decisive, as Huntingdon erupted for a 5-1 run. Reagan Barrett fueled the surge with multiple goals and assists, while Turnan added to her tally to extend the lead to 13-6 heading into the final period.
Greensboro attempted a comeback with three fourth-quarter goals, including a pair on the player advantage, but the Hawks held firm. Veng's late goal sealed the 14-9 victory.
Turnan led all scorers with five goals, while Barrett posted a standout performance with four goals and three assists. Veng added two goals and two assists, and Kate Hudson and Payton Hill each contributed a goal and an assist. Huntingdon also controlled the draw 14-12 and held a 27-24 edge in shots.
Kendall Hallas earned the win in goal with six saves- anchoring the Huntingdon defensive effort.
The Hawks will look to keep rolling on April 11th, traveling to face Meredith on the road. Gametime is set for 2:00 PM CT.
