Shaw III Named SLIAC Men's Wrestler Of The Week

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Following his outing at the Lucha Open hosted by Life University this past weekend, the SLIAC has recognized Huntingdon's Kevin Shaw III as the league's Men's Wrestler of the Week. 

Competing in the 197 weight class, Shaw III took second place in a tournament that featured a field of over 50 teams, finishing the tournament with a 4-1 record. His match-by-match breakdown is as follows:

Champ. Round 1 - Kevin Shaw (Huntingdon) won by tech fall over Marcel Gordon (Missouri Baptist University) (TF 21-6)

Champ. Round 2 - Kevin Shaw (Huntingdon) won by decision over Bryson Putnam (Reinhardt University (GA)) (Dec 16-11)

Quarterfinal - Kevin Shaw (Huntingdon) won by major decision over Bailey Jones (Lindsey Wilson (Ky.)) (Maj 16-6)

Semifinal - Kevin Shaw (Huntingdon) won by medical forfeit over Kage Mir (LANDER) (MFF)

1st Place Match - Xander Dossett (The Storm Wrestling Center) won by major decision over Kevin Shaw (Huntingdon) (Maj 13-3)

Shaw III and the Hawks return to action on December 11th at home as they host Andrew College in a dual. Matches are set to begin at 4:00 PM CT.
