MONTGOMERY,Ala.- In a non-conference matchup, Huntingdon women's soccer(2-3 overall) fell to the Pride of Greensboro College(1-6 overall) 4-2 in an offensive shootout.
How it happened
After roughly 20 minutes without a goal, Greensboro got on the board first, sending one past Caroline Masker to take a 1-0 lead. Following a brief weather delay, Huntingdon kept battling, getting 10 shot attempts on the goal in the period, but couldn't find the dice, entering halftime with a 1-0 deficit.
As the second half got underway, the Pride found their stride offensively, scoring two goals within the first 25 minutes to grow their lead to 3-0. Huntingdon's Joy Bartholomew stopped the bleeding at the 72:51 mark, heading in a goal off a corner kick from Shaylinn McFarland to bring the score to 3-1. Greensboro responded with another goal at the 83:13 mark to raise their lead back to 4-1 as they game winded down. The Hawks kept fighting however, with Shaylinn McFarland putting in a goal inside the last five minutes of the match to make the score 4-2, but Huntingdon would run out of time, dropping the match 4-2.
