Second Half Surge Pushes Piedmont Past The Hawks

DEMORREST, Ga.- In their third consecutive CCS matchup, Huntingdon women's soccer(2-6-1 overall, 0-3 CCS) fell to the Lions of Piedmont University(5-2-3 overall, 3-0 CCS) 3-0.

How it happened

Through the first 15 minutes of the match, Piedmont set the tempo on the offensive end, taking 8 shots while holding Huntingdon to 0. Hawks keeper Libby Williams saved both attempts on goal, but at the 20:04 mark the Lions managed to sneak one past her, taking a 1-0 lead. Although they faced an early deficit, the Hawks responded just 12 minutes later, with Shaylinn McFarland scoring off a pass from Zoe Gerlach to even the score going into halftime.

Coming out of the halftime break, Piedmont found their rhythm on both sides of the ball, scoring on two of their 10 shot attempts while holding Huntingdon scoreless on two tries, handing Huntingdon the 3-1 loss. Through the match, goalkeeper Libby Williams anchored the goal for Huntingdon, saving half of the Lions' attempts at the goal, but the Hawks could not turn those stops into goals on the other end.
