Bishop, Walker Lead Hawks In Draw With Asbury

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- Looking to build off of their win vs Agnes Scott, Huntingdon women's soccer(3-6-2 overall, 1-3-1 CCS) took on the Eagles of Asbury University(5-4-4 overall, 2-1-1 CCS) at home. Locked into a tight battle throughout the entirety of the game, the match ended with a 2-2 draw.

How it happened

Coming out with an aggressive mentality offensively, the Hawks earned the first points of the game within the opening two minutes, as Shaylinn McFarland found Keabetsoe Walker down the field, where Walker spun one past Asbury's keeper to give Huntingdon an early 1-0 lead.

Not to be outdone, the Eagles responded just 4 minutes later with their opening goal of the match, evening the score at 1. After getting fouled in the box, Laney Bishop cashed in on a penalty shot to give Huntingdon a 2-1 lead at the 12:00 mark. In response, the Eagles snuck one past Libby Williams at the 39:12 mark to bring the halftime score to 2-2.

Throughout the entirety of the second half, the team's defenses controlled the field, with neither squad finding a good look at the goal. The Hawks had opportunites, with Anaely Almeida and Laney Bishop each getting tries at the goal, but were unable to capitalize. On the other end, Libby Williams locked down Huntingdon's goal, earning three saves in the half to keep the score even at 2 as the clock expired, ending the match in a draw.
