MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Looking to avenge their loss at LaGrange, Huntingdon women's soccer(3-8-2 overall, 1-5-1 CCS) fell to the Scots of Maryville(9-2-4 overall, 6-0 CCS) 6-2.
Prior to the start of the game, Huntingdon recognized the program's two seniors for their commitments to the program, both on and off the field, throughout their time at the college. This year's seniors were Zoe Gerlach of Port St. Joe, Florida and Makenna Kramer of Apopka, Florida.
Maryville flew out of the gates, putting in two goals before the 15 minute mark to take the early advantage. The Hawks responded at the 27:28 mark with their opening goal of the game coming from Shaylinn McFarland courtesy of a pass from Keabetsoe Walker, but two more Scot goals put Maryville ahead 4-1 at halftime.
As the second half got underway, Maryville continued to capitalize on their chances, scoring two more goals to hold a 6-1 lead with roughly 17 minutes remaining. Shaylinn McFarland would score her second goal of the afternoon off a pass from Angelina Mazza, but the deficit proved to be too much, as Huntingdon walked away with a 6-2 loss.
Caroline Masker anchored the goal for Huntingdon, recording six saves on 12 shots towards the goal.
The Hawks look to bounce back on October 23rd, hosting the Wesleyan College Wolves. Gametime is set for 6:30 PM CT.
