McFarland Becomes The First Hawk To Receive All-Region Honors In the NCAA-Era
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- With the United Soccer Coaches recently announcing their selections for NCAA Division III All-Region Teams, Shaylinn McFarland's selection to Region VI's third team All-Region makes her the first Huntingdon women's soccer player to do so since the institution made the jump from NAIA to the NCAA ranks.
McFarland's all-region selection follows her historic inaugural season as a Hawk. She finished the season atop nearly all major statistical categories in the Collegiate Conference of the South, recording 14 goals and 34 points on the season(both of which are Huntingdon records), while averaging 5.44 shots, 3.19 shots on goal, and 2.13 points per game. The Madison, Alabama native spearheaded a Huntingdon offense that finished the season with 32 goals, 10 more than in the 2023 season.
"I'm thrilled for Shaylinn to receive regional recognition from United Soccer Coaches for her record-breaking freshman season," shared head coach Katie Williams. "I'm super excited to see what she'll accomplish in the years to come".
Entering her sophomore season next fall, McFarland looks to build off of her tremendously successful first year in the program. Stay tuned for news to come of the Hawks upcoming 2025 season.
