Katie Williams Secures First Win As Head Coach, Huntingdon Shuts Down Centenary 3-1

SHREVEPORT, La.- Returning to action in Shreveport following their loss to Wiley University yesterday, Huntingdon Women's Soccer responded in a big way today, defeating the Ladies of Centenary College 3-1 on the road. Centenary struck first, but the Hawks rallied, scoring three unanswered goals to secure their first victory of the season. With today's victory, Head Coach Katie Williams has secured her first win as the program's head coach.

As mentioned before, the Ladies started off strong, putting their first shot past Caroline Masker at the 7:22 mark, giving Centenary a 1-0 advantage early on in the contest. The Hawks responded with 11 minutes remaining in the half, as the freshman duo of Avery Chadwick and Greer Kemmett connected, giving Kemmett the first goal of her collegiate career as the Huntingdon evened things 1-1 entering the halftime break.

The Hawks flew out of the gates to start the second half, with Angelina Mazza capitalizing off an assist from Kemmett to hand Huntingdon their first lead of the season, 2-1. Not done yet, they followed up with another goal at the 79 minute mark, as Chloe Goggans sent one past the keeper off another assist from Chadwick to cement the Hawks 3-1 victory.

Senior goalkeeper Caroline Masker played all 90 minutes in the goal for Huntingdon, picking up 3 saves on 4 shots to keep the Hawks in front.

The Hawks look to keep rolling on Wednesday, September 10th, as they play host to the Mississippi University for Women. Gametime is set for 4:30 PM CT.
