  • Huntingdon SAAC heads athletic teams’ community service effort
    November 25, 2019
    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently helped raise a collection of more than 6,000 items for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. The effort was part of the USA South Athletic Conference’s Cans Across the Conference food drive. All 18 member institutions of the USA South collected non-perishable items to benefit local charities of their choosing.
  • Tyma recognized with release of AVCA All-Region teams

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon junior Amy Tyma received recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the release of the Division III All-Region teams. Tyma was an honorable mention selection on the South Region team. She is the first Huntingdon player to be recognized on an AVCA Region team since 1998 and the first Hawk to earn recognition during the NCAA era.
  • Hawks fall to Averett in USA South semifinals

    DANVILLE, Va. – The Huntingdon volleyball team’s season ended with a 3-1 loss to Averett in the USA South Tournament semifinals on Friday. Making their first appearance in the USA South semifinals, the Hawks lost a 32-30 battle in the first game of the match before falling 25-17 in the second game. Huntingdon bounced back for a 25-23 win in the third game before Averett finished the match with a 25-19 win in Game 4.
  • Tyma named Player of the Year, four Hawks earn All-Conference awards

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Junior Amy Tyma was named Player of the Year and a total of four Huntingdon volleyball players earned All-Conference or All-Division recognition with the release of the USA South All-Conference awards on Thursday. Tyma is the first female Huntingdon student-athlete to be recognized as USA South Player of the Year in any sport since the Hawks joined the USA South in 2013.
  • Huntingdon advances to USA South semifinals for first time

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team downed Covenant College in three games on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. The Hawks beat the Scots 25-17, 25-16, 25-19 to advance to the USA South semifinals for the first time since joining the conference in 2013. This is the fourth straight season Huntingdon has reached the conference tournament. Tuesday marked the third consecutive appearance in the USA South quarterfinals.
  • Hawks split in final conference matches of the regular season

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team closed out the regular season with a split against conference rivals Berea and Maryville on Saturday. Huntingdon beat Berea 25-21, 25-18, 25-15 before falling to Maryville 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.
  • Huntingdon comes up short in five-game battle with Faulkner

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team took Faulkner University to five games but came up short on Thursday night. Huntingdon led 2-1 after three games before the NAIA Eagles rallied for a 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 15-13 win.
  • Huntingdon downs LaGrange for 10th conference win of the season

    LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team earned its 10th conference win of the season with a 25-20, 28-26, 19-25, 25-22 win at LaGrange College on Tuesday night.
  • DeFleron and Tyma earn USA South Athlete of the Week honors

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Two Huntingdon student-athletes were recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference as Athletes of the Week on Monday. Junior defensive back Peyton DeFleron was named Defensive Player of the Week for football and junior Amy Tyma was named Player of the Week for volleyball.

    BREVARD, N.C. – The Huntingdon volleyball team swept Brevard College and Piedmont College in a conference quad-match on Saturday. The Hawks beat Brevard 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 and downed Piedmont 25-17, 25-17, 25-16.
  • Hawks down Pensacola Christian for 18th win of the season

    PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Huntingdon volleyball team beat Pensacola Christian 25-14, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23 on Thursday night. The win was the 18th of the season, marking the third straight season the Hawks have reached at least 18 wins.

    LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team earned two conference wins on Saturday with a sweep of Covenant and Agnes Scott. The Hawks beat Covenant 25-18, 25-16, 25-16 and knocked off Agnes Scott 25-8, 25-11, 25-23.

    LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team lost a pair of five-game conference matches on Saturday. The Hawks fell to Maryville 25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 16-14 and lost to Berea 21-25, 25-21, 14-25, 25-16, 16-14. The loss to Maryville snapped an eight-match winning streak for the Hawks.
  • Hawks push winning streak to eight matches, remain unbeaten in USA South

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team picked up its eighth straight win and remained unbeaten in the USA South Athletic Conference with a 25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21 win over LaGrange on Wednesday night.

    LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team moved into first place in the West Division of the USA South Athletic Conference with a pair of wins on Saturday. The Hawks beat Agnes Scott 25-15, 25-19, 25-14 and knocked off Covenant 20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13. With the wins, Huntingdon extended its winning streak to seven matches. The winning streak is tied for program’s longest winning streak since at least 2006.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team swept Brevard and Piedmont to open conference play on Saturday. The Hawks downed Brevard 25-14, 25-20, 25-12 and knocked off Piedmont 25-15, 25-23, 25-21. With the two wins, Huntingdon extended its winning streak to five matches.
  • Tyma earns USA South Athlete of the Week recognition

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon’s Amy Tyma was recognized by the USA South Athletic Conference as one of the Athletes of the Week on Monday. The junior was named Player of the Week for volleyball for her performance in five matches. Tyma totaled 77 kills and 71 digs to help Huntingdon post a 3-2 record during the week.

    ATLANTA  – The Huntingdon volleyball team earned its third straight win with a four-game victory at Oglethorpe on Sunday. The Hawks beat the Stormy Petrels 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 29-27.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team swept Pensacola Christian and the Mississippi University for Women on Saturday in the Hawks’ first home matches of the season. Huntingdon beat Pensacola Christian 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 and knocked off MUW 25-16, 25-23, 25-23.

    LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team played a pair of Division II programs on Friday in the LaGrange Tournament. The Hawks lost to North Greenville 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-10 and fell to Albany State 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 15-12.

    CONWAY, Ark. – The Huntingdon volleyball team closed the Hendrix Warrior Invitational with losses to Hendrix and Rhodes on Sunday. The Hawks lost to Hendrix 25-13, 25-16, 25-20 and fell to Rhodes 28-30, 25-15, 20-25, 26-24, 15-11.

    CONWAY, Ark. – The Huntingdon volleyball team opened the Hendrix Warrior Invitational with a five-game win over Louisiana College and a four-game loss to Texas Lutheran on Saturday. The Hawks beat Louisiana College 25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 16-25, 15-9 and fell to Texas Lutheran 25-12, 25-20, 24-26, 25-14.
  • Hawks split against Division II opponents Erskine and AUM

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team split against a pair of Division II programs on Tuesday. The Hawks beat Erskine College 28-26, 25-15, 18-25, 19-25, 15-8 and lost to AUM 25-13, 25-12, 25-16.

    JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday during the final day of the Belhaven/Millsaps Invitational. The Hawks beat the University of Dallas 25-9, 25-20, 12-25, 27-25 and lost to Millsaps 25-21, 25-21, 25-17.

    JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon volleyball team won a pair of 3-0 matches on Friday in the Belhaven/Millsaps Invitational. The Hawks beat Mississippi University for Women 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 and knocked off Philander Smith 25-21, 25-21, 25-15. The two wins pushed Huntingdon’s winning streak to three matches.

    JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon volleyball team earned its first victory of the season with a five-game win at Belhaven on Thursday. The Hawks fell behind 2-1 in the match but rallied to win the final two games in a 25-20, 23-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-11 win.
  • Huntingdon closes out Maryville College Tournament

    MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon volleyball team lost two matches on the final day of the Maryville College Tournament on Saturday. Huntingdon opened the day with a 25-23, 25-16, 25-19 loss to Hanover and closed the day with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-15 loss to Centre.
  • Volleyball falls to Washington and Lee in season opener

    MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon volleyball team opened the season with a loss to Washington and Lee on first day of the Maryville College Tournament on Friday. Huntingdon won the first game but dropped the next three in a 25-19, 19-25, 15-25, 16-25 loss.
