Hawks Rout Warren Wilson In Season Finale
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In their 2025 season finale, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse welcomed the Owls of Warren Wilson College to Charles Lee Field for a non-conference showdown between the two teams.
Aided by nine first quarter goals, the Hawks blew past Warren Wilson, seeing goals from 11 different scorers en route to a dominant 25-2 victory.
Prior to the start of tonight's game, Huntingdon recognized the program's lone senior, Anthony Piazza, for his dedication to the program both on and off of the field throughout his time as a Hawk.
How it happened
Huntingdon caught fire early, scoring three goals in the opening two minutes to stake the early advantage. Kelcey Marston got things going before Josh Knost and JT Klam each followed as the lead started to grow. Senior Anthony Piazza tacked on a goal of his own off an assist from Marston to push the lead to 4-0 before four consecutive goals between Kelcey and Connor Angst brought the score to 8-0 with 3:32 remaining in the quarter. Jaxon Mcmonigle then scored his first goal of the night before a Warren Wilson goal brought the score to 9-1 entering the second quarter.
Mcmonigle single-handedly continued to pour it on as the second quarter got started, scoring three goals in a row to bring the Huntingdon lead to 12-1 by the 11:58 mark. The following seven minutes proved to be scoreless, but Marston put in his third goal of the game at the 4:02 mark off an assist from Knost as the advantage grew to 13-1 at halftime.
The Hawks offensive attack remained potent in the second half, with freshman Reed Evard scoring the first goal of his career at the 12:21 mark off another assist from Kelcey Marston as the lead was pushed to 14-1. Klam and Tristan Dial each put in goals over the course of the next three minutes to bring the score to 16-1. The Owls put in their second goal of the game at the 6:42 mark in the quarter, but goals from Klam and Ky Rayford brought Huntingdon's lead to 18-2 as the final quarter got underway.
Rayford and Mcmonigle each tacked on goals in the first two minutes of the half, extending the lead to 20-2 before Angst and Evard brought the advantage to twenty, 22-2 with 9:45 remaining. Angst and Mason Honeycutt each scored as the gap continued to widen between the teams, 24-2 with 5:27 to go. To ice things way, freshman Scott Welton also put in his first career goal, bringing the final score to 25-2.
In the goal
#38 Liam Angst played all 60 minutes in the goal as he finished the season with a 4-8 record, recording 1 save on three shot attempts.
