High-Powered Offense Pushes The Hawks Past William Peace

CARY, NC.- Claiming their first USA South Conference victory of the season on the road, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse led from wire-to-wire in a 15-4 win over the Pacers of William Peace University.

The Hawks struck first midway through the opening quarter and quickly built momentum with three first-period goals to take an early 3-0 lead. After the hosts briefly cut into the deficit in the second quarter, Huntingdon responded with two late goals before halftime to carry a 5-1 advantage into the break.

Huntingdon pulled away in the third quarter, erupting for six goals in a span of just over ten minutes. A pair of goals from Hunter Rives helped spark the run, while Jaxon McMonigle added another score during the surge to extend the Hawks' lead to 11-3 entering the final period.

The Hawks continued to apply pressure in the fourth, scoring four more times — including three man-up goals — to push the margin to 15-3 before a late consolation score.

McMonigle led the offensive effort with five goals on 14 shots, while Josh Knost added three goals and two assists. Connor Angst also finished with three goals and an assist, and Kelcey Marston paced the playmakers with four assists. Devin Reeves contributed a goal and two assists, while Tristan Dial tallied a goal and an assist.

Huntingdon finished with a commanding 51-26 advantage in shots and controlled the ground ball battle 33-25. Mason Honeycutt led the Hawks in the faceoff circle, winning 12 of 21 attempts, while goalkeeper Ethan Schellenberger recorded 11 saves to secure the victory.

The Hawks will look to keep rolling at home on March 21st as they welcome the Knights of Southern Virginia University to Samford Stadium. Gametime is set for 12:00 PM CT.
