Record-Breaking Offense Fuels Huntingdon's Road Win Against Warren Wilson
SWANNANOA, North Carolina- Putting up an NCAA-Era program-high 27 goals this afternoon, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse cruised to a 15-goal victory over the Owls of Warren Wilson College, taking the 27-12 win on the road.
27 goals narrowly takes down the previous program record of 26 goals(also against Warren Wison), from the 2023 season.
The Hawks wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a 2–0 lead early in the first quarter behind goals from Kelcey Marston and Hunter Rives. After Warren Wilson briefly cut into the deficit, Huntingdon responded with three straight goals—including two from Nico Palmieri—to take a commanding 5–1 lead into the second quarter.
Huntingdon continued to control the pace in the second, capitalizing on both even-strength and man-up opportunities. Devin Reeves opened the scoring in the quarter with an extra-man goal, and the Hawks closed the half on a 3–0 run, highlighted by goals from Rives and Jaxon McMonigle, to take an 11–3 advantage into the break.
After Warren Wilson scored twice early in the third quarter, Huntingdon delivered its most decisive stretch of the game. The Hawks erupted for a 10–1 run, blowing the game wide open. Jaxon McMonigle led the surge with multiple goals, while Connor Angst added a flurry of scores of his own. Huntingdon also capitalized in transition and man-down situations, showing its versatility and depth on the offensive end. By the end of the third quarter, the Hawks had built a commanding 21–6 lead.
Huntingdon continued to pour it on in the fourth, pushing the lead to as many as 18 goals. Goals from Jacob Green, Mason Honeycutt, and Landen Nary helped maintain the offensive momentum as the Hawks cruised to the 27–12 final.
McMonigle led the way with a game-high five goals on a perfect shooting performance, while Angst added four goals and an assist. Reeves, Nary, Palmieri, and Rives each contributed three goals, showcasing Huntingdon's depth with seven different multi-goal scorers. Marston orchestrated the offense with a team-high five assists to go along with his goal.
Huntingdon dominated statistically across the board, outshooting Warren Wilson 80–27 and winning the ground ball battle 59–28. The Hawks also forced 31 turnovers while committing just 14, consistently disrupting Warren Wilson's ability to build possession.
The Hawks will look to keep rolling on April 4th at home against Methodist. Gametime is set for 1:00 PM CT.
