MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Following their Kentucky road trip, Huntingdon Women's Soccer returned to the Samford Soccer Complex this evening, hosting the Belhaven University Blazers in their CCS home-opener. The Blazers grabbed a lead early and never looked back, defeating the Hawks 4-0 behind three unanswered second half goals.
As the game got underway, the two teams traded attempts at the goal early and often, with Shaylinn McFarland and Keabetsoe Walker matching Belhaven shot attempts on the other end. The Blazers tapped a shot past Madelon Machen at the 21 minute mark, carrying their 1-0 lead into the halftime break. The second half proved to be a different story however, as Belhaven scored inside the opening two minutes to push their lead to 2-0, breaking things open in favor of the Blazers. The Hawks fired off six second half shots, 12 less than that of Belhaven as Huntingdon fell to 0-2 in CCS play with the 4-0 loss.
The Hawks look to bounce back on September 27th, traveling to face the defending CCS Champions, Maryville. Gametime is set for 12:00 PM CT.
