Hawks Taken Down By Piedmont

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In search of their first CCS victory of the 2025 season, Huntingdon Women's Soccer returned to the Samford Soccer Complex, hosting the Piedmont University.

In what proved to be a highly contested battle throughout, the Hawks couldn't get things going offensively, falling 2-0 to the 9-4 overall Lions.

How it happened

Piedmont drew blood early, cashing in at the 8:17 mark to take a 1-0 advantage with nearly 35 minutes remaining in the first half. Shaylinn McFarland tried to answer with a shot of her own, but missed the mark, and the Lions took advantage, putting another shot past Madelon Machen to extend their lead to 2-0 by the 14:57 mark. Through the rest of the half and onto the second half, each squad's defense controlled the field. Huntingdon fired off 8 more shots, keeping Piedmont off the scoreboard simultaneously through the rest of the match as they battled to even things up, but couldn't capitalize, falling 2-0 to their CCS opponent.

In the goal

#31 Madelon Machen played all 90 minutes in the goal for the Hawks, surrendering two goals while recording 4 saves.

The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, October 8th as they travel to face Wesleyan College. Gametime is set for 5:00 PM CT.
