Hot Second Half Fuels Hawks Run-Away Victory At Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga.- Traveling to Agnes Scott for a crucial conference matchup against the Scotties, Huntingdon Women's Soccer caught fire offensively, scoring four goals en route to a major conference win on the road.

How it happened

The Hawks got rolling early, scoring their first goal of the contest at the 11:39 mark, with freshman Greer Kemmett finding the back of the net off an assist from Xiomara Barnette to create the early advantage. Despite the early goal, the tale of the first half was the strength of Huntingdon's defense, seeing an effort that kept the Scotties from firing off a single shot in the first half. On the other end of the field, the Hawks had 13 attempts of their own, but aside from Kemmett's early on,  Huntingdon couldn't find the mark, taking their 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

As the second half got underway, the Hawks offensive misfortune quickly turned into production, as Shaylinn McFarland scored just seven minutes in to extend the lead to 2-0. Joy Bartholomew followed up at the 71:20 mark with her first goal of the season, pushing the advantage to 3-0 before Avery Chadwick's shot at the 84:45 mark hit the mark, bringing the final score to 4-0. With today's victory, the Hawks move to 3-9-2 on the season and 2-4-1 in conference play.

In the goal

Madelon Machen secured her second victory of the season this afternoon, recording a save on Agnes Scott's lone shot attempt on goal through 55 minutes. Libby Williams finished things off for the Hawks, not catching any action in the box in her 34 minutes of play.

The Hawks return to the Samford Soccer Complex on October 25th, hosting Covenant College in a must-win match for Senior Day. Gametime is set for 1:00 PM CT.
