Volleyball Closes Regular Season With Loss At Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga. – Wrapping up regular-season play on the road, Huntingdon volleyball fell in straight sets to Oglethorpe University on Saturday afternoon inside Dorough Field House.

The Stormy Petrels controlled the pace early and never looked back, defeating the Hawks 25-17, 25-17, 25-14.

Huntingdon battled throughout the opening frame, recording 10 kills but struggled to slow a sharp Oglethorpe attack that hit .313 to take the 1-0 lead. Despite a stronger second-set performance led by A'Kirra McElveen and Molly Wilson, the Hawks couldn't overcome a late Petrel run. Oglethorpe closed the match with its best offensive set of the day, hitting .464 in the third to seal the sweep.

McElveen led the Hawks with six kills and added a service ace, while Lily VanDyke and Cheyenne Ashworth each posted five kills. Setter Molly Wilson recorded 13 assists and five digs, and Lindsey Holland chipped in three kills.

As a team, Huntingdon totaled 19 kills and 29 digs, while Oglethorpe hit .384 with 41 kills and nine service aces.

The Hawks conclude the regular season at 17-17 overall and 8-8 in CCS play ahead of next week's conference tournament. They open things on Tuesday, November 11th at LaGrange as they aim to survive and advance. Gametime is set for 6:00 PM CT.
