Shaw Catches Fire As Huntingdon Closes Regular Season With Win At Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga.- Battling through a physical, grind-it-out contest in its regular season finale, the Huntingdon College women's basketball team closed the book on the regular season with a 69-60 road victory over Agnes Scott College on Saturday afternoon.

In a game where points were at a premium, the Hawks leaned on second-chance opportunities and a dominant performance inside from Charity Shaw to secure the nine-point win.

Shaw delivered one of her strongest outings of the season, pouring in 25 points on 11-of-21 shooting while controlling the glass with 13 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end. Her activity in the paint helped Huntingdon overcome a tough shooting night as a team, finishing just 26-of-83 (31.3%) from the field.

Despite shooting 24.2% from three and 52.9% from the free throw line, the Hawks created extra possessions all afternoon. Huntingdon outrebounded Agnes Scott 47-43 and turned 24 offensive rebounds into key second-chance opportunities that proved to be the difference.

Makayla Ford provided a crucial scoring lift, finishing with 17 points and five steals. The guard knocked down three triples and consistently disrupted passing lanes on the defensive end, helping the Hawks force 29 Scottie turnovers. Huntingdon converted that defensive pressure into 17 steals as a team.

The game remained tight throughout, with neither side able to create significant separation. Each Agnes Scott push was answered by Shaw on the interior or timely contributions from the Hawks' supporting cast, including eight points from Dalyce Sanders and six from Erica Rodriguez off the bench.

In the fourth quarter, Huntingdon made enough plays to create breathing room. Key defensive stops and offensive rebounds extended possessions, and the Hawks did just enough at the stripe late to keep the Scotties at bay.

With this win bringing a close to the Hawks regular season, Huntingdon Women's Basketball awaits news of the upcoming CCS tournament. Stay tuned to huntingdonhawks.com for more information to come.
