Volleyball Closes Regular Season With Win Over Tuskegee

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- To bring an end to their 2024 regular season, Huntingdon volleyball(13-19 overall, 9-7 CCS) defeated the Division II Tuskegee Golden Tigers(8-13 overall, 6-11 SIAC) three sets to one.

How it happened

The first two sets belonged to Huntingdon by scores of 25-23 and 25-21 respectively. The Hawks opened the match with an aggressive mentality on the offensive side of the court, recording 29 kills while limiting Tuskegee to just 17. On the flipside however, Huntingdon's offensive aggression left them susceptible to errors of their own, ending the first set with 12 and the second with 7. Nonetheless, seniors Ashlen Janowski and Izzy Valldeperas spearheaded an effort that put Huntingdon ahead 2-0.

Facing a sweep, the Golden Tigers found a second wind and managed to claim the third set 25-23. Huntingdon led early, gaining an early advantage with a match-high 16 kills, but Tuskegee found a way to capitalize on the Hawks seven errors to force a fourth set.

Claiming victory in the fourth set by a score of 25-14, the Hawks defeated Tuskegee 3-1. With Morgan Suggs and Eva Ellenburg at the helm, the Hawks led early and never turned back, with an Ellenburg block finalizing the set and the match.
