Howard Johnson joined the Huntingdon staff in 2011 as an assistant track and field and cross country coach.
Johnson coached at New Mexico Highlands University for two seasons before coming to Huntingdon. During that time, he coached six all-conference athletes and had three qualify for nationals. As an assistant, he helped the program improve 10th place to fourth place in the outdoor season and fifth place to third place in the indoor season.
Before joining the coaching ranks, Johnson was a six-time all-conference selection at Adams State. He was a four-time All-Conference hurdler and was all-conference in the triple jump and long jump. Johnson was a four-time academic all-conference selection, president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Adams State representative for the SAAC.
A native of Clarendon, Jamaica, Johnson is married to the former Sherline Duncan and has one daughter, Tatiana.
