Huntingdon struggled to establish consistency on the offensive end, shooting just 20.5% (15-of-73) from the field and 11.5% (3-of-26) from three-point range. The Hawks also converted 11-of-25 attempts at the free throw line. Makayla Ford paced the offense with 16 points and four steals, while Deshauna Foote added nine points and two steals. Charity Shaw led the way on the glass with seven rebounds as Huntingdon finished with 31 total boards.
Defensively, the Hawks were active, forcing 28 turnovers and tallying 18 steals, but Belhaven capitalized on its opportunities. The Blazers shot 47.4% from the floor and held a 51-31 advantage on the boards, while simultaneously forcing 20 turnovers on the other end of the court to dictate the pace of the game.
Despite the defensive pressure, Huntingdon was unable to overcome the shooting woes in the conference setback. The Hawks will look to bounce back on February 20th as they close out their regular season at Agnes Scott. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM CT.
